Many expressionistic artistic pieces are known for their hallucinating quality. The viewers can stare into the painting and then be lost in their own world and imagine and interpret the painting which may be completely different from what the artist tried to portray.
Some of the most famous expressionism paintings are Marzella by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Naked Man with Rat by Lucian Freud, and The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh.
Vincent Willem van Gogh once quoted “I want to touch people with my art. I want them to say, “he feels deeply, he feels tenderly.” which I believe is the one thing that every artist desires and shows how personal and emotional these paintings can be.
