Winter Is Coming...

Winter is here… winter, when you don’t feel like getting off the bed in the cold mornings, only time in the year when you fall in love with the warm and shiny sun, the time when coffee becomes your new best friend!

Ladies, it’s time to say bye to your summery dresses and say hello to the warm boots and coats. Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy getting dressed like you did in summer or spring. The endless layering possibilities come along with the chills of cold winter. “It’s all about layering,” says Michael Bracko, an exercise physiologist in Calgary, Alberta, and a cold-weather-exercise enthusiast. Start with a base layer of synthetic material or a wool-synthetic blend (no cotton), which absorbs moisture from the body, which prevents chill. (Damp garments draw heat away from your body.) Wear a middle layer of fleece or wool to act as insulation, and a breathable outer shell made of wind- and water-resistant material. “Nothing is worse than having cold hands and feet,” Mr. Bracko says. Extremities like hands and feet are vulnerable to cold so make sure to keep them warm by wearing wool-synthetic sock and gloves. Bracko adds that much of the body heat is lost from an uncovered head so make sure you wear a hat.

To wrap up, we experience less thirst when it’s cold but despite that we are in actual need of hydration. When we inhale the cold air our body warms the air which creates water vapors that are released when we exhale. So, drink up even when you’re not thirsty.

Make sure to drink warm liquids, ice-cold beverages can freeze your minds out. :)
