Victory!!

We won a big battle against our enemy, but there is no one around to celebrate this victory. I am in a dilemma. Should I say that I am the luckiest person in the world or the unluckiest person? I am the only survivor of the battle in which around five thousand soldiers participated. There is an old saying, ‘Only the coward and the strongest survive a battle, brave are the ones that die’. Well I am not brave since I am still alive and I am not a coward either. There were many soldiers in that battlefield who were stronger than me. I do not know what I should feel, happy because I can meet my family or sad because I should deliver the news of death of friends to their family. Should I even call it our victory because by the sight of this place I don’t think any side have won the battle. For me, it does not look like victory to either side. It’s not that I hid myself and stayed alive. I was in the front line taking enemy head on but somehow no bullet managed to pass through my body. I don’t have any lucky charm or something like that because I don’t believe in that kind of stuff. I think someone is still alive because I can hear someone calling my name. I turn towards the direction from which the sound is coming. The sound is becoming louder and louder. Now I can see the person who was calling me, what the hell? It’s my mom and I find myself in my room. Damn! It was just a dream!
