Session III of Deertalk Season V Conducted

Session III of Deertalk Season V was held on 13th June, 2014. This was a debate on the topic of ‘Should smoking be banned?’ The judges were Prabina Neupane, Ronit Pradhan, Bimal Gaire and Pratik Budhathoki who judged on body of language, English pronunciation and grammar, content and overall presentation. The participants, Shankar Koirala, Sushant Gurung and Sagar Giri, talked in the favor of banning smoking whereas, Ujwal Uprety, Sumit Shrestha and Anil Lama spoke against it. The program was initiated by one of the hosts of the Deertalk Club, Sandesh Sharma, at 1.20 pm, followed by the Deerspeech by Anil Shrestha of batch 2015 who talked about the advantages of getting involved in projects and internships. The participants were able to grab the attention of the audience with their sense of humor and were applauded with frequently. Among all the participants, Ujwal Uprety and Sumit Shrestha managed to win greater share of appreciation from the audience and the judges and stood first and second with 15 and 12 points out of 20, respectively. The winners were awarded with prizes by Alok Koirala, the associate director of Research and Development at DWIT. Furthermore, the winners of the Deertalk Season III and Season IV, Dipesh Poudel and Pratibh Acharya were awarded with books as prizes. Furthermore, Alok Sir shared his views regarding why smoking is dangerous and encouraged all the smokers to quit smoking and live a healthy life. The session concluded on the promising note by Hitesh Karki, the academic director at DWIT, saying that any student who wishes to quit will be helped by the college.
