Picture Courtesy: www.wallpapersxl.com “A Beautiful Mind” is a biographical movie based on the novel, ‘A Beautiful Mind’ by Sylvia Nasar. This is a movie based on John Nash’s life who is a Nobel laureate in Economics. The film was directed by Ron Howard, starring Russell Crowe, along with Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, Paul Bettany, Adam Goldberg, Judd Hirsch, Josh Lucas, Anthony Rapp, and Christopher Plummer in supporting roles. In the movie, Nash is a schizophrenic patient who role-plays made up characters in his own mind and imagines people who do not exist. John Nash (Russell Crowe) is a graduate student at Princeton University. He has a roommate, Charles Herman (Paul Bettany) who is supportive of Nash. Nash was struggling to select a topic to write his doctorate paper while Martin Hansen (John Lucas) published his doctorate paper and Nash was very much disturbed by this. While Nash was with his friends, he discovered the topic for his doctorate ‘governing dynamics’. He put those paper in the university and he got a placement at Wheeler Labs with two members selected on his own who were Sol (Adam Goldberg) and Bender (Anthony Rapp). In 1953, at Pentagon, he helps to intercept the pattern of a transmission line which computer could not detect and which was a code. While he was in Pentagon he saw William Parcher (Ed Harris). Analyzing the talent of Nash (decipher the code mentally) William Parcher (United State Department of Defense) is pleased to give  an assignment to Nash. And the assignment was to crack the code that was published in magazines and newspapers and mail the letters. Nash is doing this job as a government agent. Nash use to take a class where he met Alicia Larde (Jennifer Connelly). She invites Nash to dinner and they start to fall in love with each other and they get married. Once Nash went to deliver a letter to William Parcher, a shootout took place and he was so much afraid after that incident. Before giving a lecture he meets Charles and his niece Marcee (While giving a lecture at Harvard University he felt that someone is watching him and trying to catch him so he tried to flee from those people thinking that they were enemies. But they were Dr. Rosen’s (Christopher Plumber) people. He punched Dr. Rosen so he was given medicine and taken to psychiatric. Dr. Rosen tells Alicia about the disease of Nash and told that Charles, Marcee, and Parcher did not in exist and they are only in Nash’s imagination. Alicia goes to the place where Nash used to deliver the letters and finds out that the letters have not been opened and she shows those unopened documents to Nash. Nash is given an insulin shock therapy. He was taking anti-psychotic medicine and slowly he stopped taking it. Due to not taking the medicine, he met Parcher again and Parcher convinced Nash that he is real and Nash has to again crack the codes and help the government. One day Alicia found out that Nash has started to work for Parcher so she rushed to the home and found out that the baby is submerged in the bath top.  She calls Dr. Rosen but Nash believes that Parcher is going to kill her so he pushes her and the baby to the ground. Scared by the incident, Alicia starts the car to go to her mother but Nash begs her to stay and he says that Marcee is never getting old as he has known Marcee for 3 years. And finally, he accepts that it’s all hallucination and decides to take the medication again. Nash returned to Princeton University and his rival Hansen who was head of the department of mathematics allows him to work at library and adult classes. Nash always sees Marcee, Charles and Parcher, but ignores them and believes that they exist only in his imagination. In 1994, Josh wins Nobel memorial prize in economics for his revolutionary work on game theory and is honored by his fellow. This movie deals with the human mind. The human mind is a beautiful thing which is the reason for our ingenuity, artistic talent and even for our humanity. The movie won Academy Awards for the Best Movie, Best Actress in supporting role, Best screenplay and cinematography and Best Actress (Golden Globe).
