IT is an interdisciplinary field. It can be blended with every theories that can be used in technical as well as in non-technical aspect with equal precision whether to create business opportunities or to strengthen the livelihood of the people. This factor has always inspired me a lot.

What difference do you find between learning and getting involved in real world projects?

It’s just like learning how to swim in room vs. actually diving in the swimming pool. The impedance mismatch between learning and actual implementation can only be reduced via proper guidelines form the experienced one.

I still remember when we had a tough time in demonstrating Wireless Car Control in our Final Year Bachelors Project. The connection with sensors, parallel ports were fine and even the program was running without any errors, but still the car did not move when it actually had to.

What we learn does not always comply with real world external factors like psychological behavior, environment, business trends, terrain compliance, Reactive Risks, conflicts, social norms, ethical concerns, sustainability, cultural values, patriotism and many more. These are the major gaps between learning and actual implementation.

Where do you think Nepal's IT field is heading? As there enough IT professionals in Nepal? How do you think they can contribute to the nation through what they have learned?

Nepal is a developing country. It is a place where there are lots of opportunities. IT is the only revolutionary tool that will lead the nation to a higher economic standards. The future of IT in Nepal is very good and can be best if there are higher dedicated governing bodies. IT professionals can take a lead role in framing the policies pertaining to IT, reviving IT parks in conjunctions with different colleges and universities.
