Students at DWIT recently filled a form to provide information to college administration about their living situation and the problems they face. This took place as part of the college’s ongoing initiative to make it easier for students from out-of-town. Hitesh Karki, Academic director has frequently made it clear that the college is aware of the difficulties of students staying far from home during meetings with students. At a recent meeting, he expressed his eagerness to help the students and admitted that though the hostel matter was raised some time ago, nothing much had changed. The hostel requirement form was distributed via email to all the students and contained general questions on their current place of residence, monthly expense for the apartment, basic facilities and problems faced by the students. “The first thing I looked before joining this college was whether they provide hostel facility or not. But to my dismay, there was no hostel at DWIT. I didn’t want to give up getting admitted in Deerwalk so I decided I’d rather give up my hostel plans. Now, I’m really thankful that college is thinking of establishing a hostel for students like us,” said Ankit Pradhan, one of the students of DWIT. “I am currently staying at my relative’s house and things are going smoothly, but if the college provides us with hostel facility, it will be a lot easier for me,” said Asmita Subedi, who is from Itahari. Students are very happy about this initiative taken by the college which will be of great help to the students living outside of home in order to study.
