In our life many people come and become a part of it, but one day they have to leave us so that they can create a better future for themselves. Then the only thing we can do is bid farewell to them with a smile on our faces. We might not be happy to bid farewell but we know that that person is leaving for their own betterment, so we cannot ask them to stay.

On 19th June, Deerwalk Institute of Technology held a farewell program for R&D Department Head, Alok Koirala. He had worked in Deerwalk for about 1.4 years which is a long enough time for a person to establish good relationships with the people of Deerwalk.

The program was organized by the DeerExpress club and was hosted by Dipesh Bhandari, member of DeerExpress club. In the very beginning of the program, a video, which was made by Pema Tamang of second semester, was shown. The video was about people sharing their experiences with Alok Koirala and how they felt about it. The people who shared their experiences were Bijaya Kumar Shrestha, Pramod Kumar Rai, Surendra Adhikari, Sagar Giri, Hitesh Karki, Asim Regmi, Madan Subedi, Anil Shrestha, Prabina Neupana and Sandesh Sharma.

The program continued with Bidish Acharaya, Amun Kharel and Surendra Adhikari, DWIT Campus Chief, giving farewell speeches to Mr Alok Koirala. Then, it was time for the man of the hour, Alok Koirala, to give his speech. While giving speech, he was very emotional. He wasn't feeling good about leaving DWIT. He said, "I have gained a lot of knowledge in Deerwalk. This farewell program too is the best farewell given so far to me." He is leaving DWIT  to work for a branch of VMware in Canada. He said “I left VMware but VMware could not leave me.”

After his speech, there was a prize distribution program for the semester toppers. Each semester topper received books as prizes. Sabin Pathak (currently, a first year student) was rewarded for being first in the 1st semester of Batch 2018. Ruby Shrestha (currently, a second year student) received prizes for topping the 1st and 2nd semesters of Batch 2017. Sameer Koirala (currently, a third year student) received prizes for topping the 1st , 2nd, 3rd and 4th semesters of Batch 2016 and Sameer Shrestha (currently, a fourth year student) was rewarded for topping the 1st semester of Batch 2015.

Towards the end of the program, Hitesh Karki, the Chief Academic Officer, gave a farewell speech to Alok Koirala. He said, "Alok Koirala had helped the college form and efficiently run the R&D department at DWIT. He will be missed."

The program ended with a group photo of the DWIT members with Alok Koirala.
