On Wednesday, 4th June 2014, blood donation program was organized by Corporate Activity Club (CAC) of Deerwalk Services in coordination with the Social Service Club (SSC) of Deerwalk Institute of Technology and Nepal Red Cross Society. It was held in the Deerwalk premises and financially supported by Deerwalk Social Welfare Network. The main objective of this program was to promote social welfare and to save the lives of people which depend on a few pints of blood. There were altogether 75 donors. There were 57 donors from Deerwalk Services, 17 donors from Deerwalk Institute of Technology and 1 donor from the neighborhood. When asked what she thinks about blood donation program, Bhawana Dahal, one of the donors and student at DWIT, said, “The concept of blood donation is really great. If such concept wasn’t formed many people would have died just due to the shortage of blood. Considering this fact, I have participated in the program and would like to encourage others as well to participate in programs like these.” In the blood donation program, a queue was formed for registration in the beginning. For each interested member, registration was followed by a physical checkup. In the course of physical checkup, some interested members were rejected due to their health conditions, whereas the rest were allowed to donate. Pratibh Acharya, one of the students at DWIT who donated blood, said, "What can be more inspiring than the fact that our simple effort can save millions of lives?” One of the members who were disqualified from donating blood said, "It is really sad that I lost one chance of giving something that I possess for positively affecting the lives of others.” After donation, donors were provided with fruits, chocolates and juice for energy and refreshment. “Finally, this year we are able to meet our goal of organizing blood donation program at Deerwalk. I am really satisfied that it completed successfully,” said Kiran Dangol, one of the members of Corporate Activity Club (CAC). Furthermore, according to the volunteers as well, the program was quite successful. They explained that there were exactly 75 donors, which they had estimated before the program begun. Members of CAC were gratified by the success of the program and said that they plan to conduct such blood donation programs every year at Deerwalk.
