If you’re an avid premier league enthusiast like me, you’d know that if you go back to the 2014/15 season exactly a year back on Sunday, February 8th, Leicester City Football Club were at the absolute bottom of the league on 17 points with only 14 games of the season remaining with all hope seemingly lost. Fast forward a year ahead, exactly on the same day Sunday, February 8th, Leicester City, are at the very top of the league, 5 points clear of the closest competition. The English Premier League has probably never witnessed a comeback quite like this one. From the brink of going down, to the delirium of a 5-point cushion at the top. This remarkable story has led to football fans asking one common question – “Can they go all the way and win the Premier League Title?”

Being a Liverpool fan and witnessing the heartbreak of the 2012/2013 season when we came agonizingly close to the title after holding a six-point lead with 4 games to go, a part of me is expecting them to stumble, and get swallowed up by the Premier League big boys. However, as we get to the business end of the season, Leicester City are in the form of their lives. They do not look like they are going to stop any time soon. Saturday’s 1-3 win away at Manchester City, arguably their biggest rivals to contest for the title, will forever be etched into the Leicester City history books. The Leicester side that faced Man City on Sunday cost a total of 24 million euros to assemble which is not even one third of the price that the Manchester City squad took to assemble.

Even if they do stumble, and even if they do end up falling short of winning the league, this has been a season to remember for the foxes. Front man Jamie Vardy’s incredible 11 games consecutive scoring run, shattering the previous record held by Rudd Van Nistelroy, has just been one of the many highlights of their season. Their undying willpower and will to win is what makes them such an exciting side to watch. They have nothing to lose. If they go on and win it, they will make history and become only the 6th side to win the English Premier league title. If they stumble, it will still be a great season for them and no one will be disappointed as no one was expecting them to be at the top.

Everyone assumed that it was luck that was keeping Claudio Ranieri’s side at the top of the league. However, we are quickly finding out that they are a lot better than what people made them to be. Every week, fans question whether they can keep up this hot streak and every week, Leicester City make them eat their words with their performances on the pitch.

Long may it continue. C’mon you foxes!!
