By Ruby Shrestha

Every working day, DWIT carries out Extras sessions which are dedicated to pass on some extra information to the students besides their curriculum. On 26th March, 2014, Hitesh Karki, the academic director of DWIT , discussed about Written Communication, Reporting and Preparing Minutes in the Extras session. He informed the students about the rules that should be followed when writing and sending an email. He emphasized on facts like the significance of greetings in an email, the way subject of an email defines the topic and the urgency level of the message, the importance of concise and succinct nature of the body of the email and the right method of signing off the email. He conducted the session by displaying the emails sent by the students and asked the audience to find and correct the flaws in the email. Apart from this, he encouraged the students to use technological facilities such as auto emailing and  Google Calendar. Furthermore, he talked about the correct method of reporting and preparing minutes of a meeting. Overall, he wanted to instruct and encourage the students to follow a particular standard for  written communication. He concluded the session by saying, "We are not here to make things work. We are here to make things work better."
