DEERWALK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY is an IT college situated in Kathmandu. It is affiliated to the Institute of Science and Technology, Tribhuvan University, Nepal.  I am currently a student of DWIT and today I want to write about the expectations I had from this college before joining in and the reality I am facing after being a part of the college.

Before joining the college I roughly had any idea about the clubs here at DWIT. I knew about the clubs before but never had I imagined that the club activities are going to be so fruitful for the students. In DWIT there are many clubs that are run by the students themselves. These clubs organize various workshops which help the student to find out their interests and learn new things from the basic level. The club basically enables the students to come out of their comfort zones and try out new things.

I had never expected this college to give internships to the students from the freshman year but to my surprise, it does. My friend Pratyush Acharya who is currently in the first semester is working as an in-house-intern. Working as an intern empowers the students to implement whatever they vision. So I believe, giving students the opportunities to learn and explore new things and creating a professional environment for them by placing them with mentors who are already working in the real world projects is the central idea of DWIT.

The teachers here are very helpful and are always ready to help the students at any cost. All the teachers come from a very good academic background and have enormous knowledge about the concerned subject matter. All the teachers are very motivating and they work hard for the students’ bright future.

Before Enrolling, I had thought that the long college hours in DWIT were boring and a waste of time but little did I know that the schedule was designed to let the students interact and build a network within the college. Unlike many other colleges, the food system here is very convenient with a variety of healthy foods on the menu. The environment and the infrastructure of the college are also decent enough.

In short, DWIT is so much better than what I had expected. I am very happy to be a part of the institute which works on students’ overall skill development and makes sure that the students are ready to face the real-life projects before graduating.
