I was randomly scrolling through my feed when I received a message from my friend asking me to take a certain personality test; shortly known as MBTI. The Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator is a self-report inventory designed to identify a person's personality type, strengths, and preferences. The questionnaire was developed by Isabel Myers and her mother Katherine Briggs based on their work with Carl Jung's theory of personality types. Today, the MBTI inventory is one of the most widely used psychological instruments in the world created to help people discover their own strengths and gain a better understanding of how people are different.
The 16 personality types are represented with four letter abbreviation each based on their preferences for Sensing (S) or Intuition (N), Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I), Thinking (T) or Feeling (F), and Judging (J) or Perceiving (P). The test consists of questions to which an individual has to answer on a scale of agree completely, agree, neutral, disagree and disagree completely. To get the optimum result you need to be genuine while answering. Present the answer being true to yourself and not by the ideal version of what you think you should be. After the completion of the test you will be presented with a four letter abbreviation of personality type such as INFP, ESTP,ISFJ and so on along with its percentage value. Further it also describes the traits these personalities have, suitable career options and famous people who belong to the same personality type. The main agenda of this test is to make you aware more about yourself.
Some experts have claimed that MBTI doesn’t produce accurate results, some have even claimed that when they retook the test after a month interval it showed varied results. People are drawn to MBTI since all the outcomes are positive and non-judgemental. Well no one likes to hear negative remarks about themselves right? It may or maynot hold true value but taking the test and discussing it with your friends will result in a fun and good topic of con. You can even search fictional characters who fall in the same category as yours and boast it to your friends. If it peaks your interest, you can go deeper and know more about your personality type.
