Sweta Karna visits Khwopa Engineering College

As part of Deerwalk’s outreach program, which attempts to help prospective IT graduates in Nepal to make an informed decision about their career path and to inform them on the state of the IT industry in Nepal, Sweta Karna, a Senior Engineering Manager at Deerwalk made a visit to Khwopa Engineering College to give a presentation on 29th March, 2014. Her presentation was based on computer related projects. Karna discussed the challenges Nepal is facing in the field of technology and the hidden opportunities for its improvement. She said that Nepal is not being able to improve in terms of technology compared to  developed countries . Karna expressed the belief that while Nepal has the capacity, it lacks an effective education system. But now colleges like Khwopa Engineering college, DWIT and other colleges have started providing practical knowledge. She believes that after some years Nepal can develop the capabilities to compete with developed countries. She also discussed the significance of preplannig regarding future career of the students. The main aim of her visit was to open up the minds of the students and to make them think about their career with full passion. When asked about the reaction of the students there, she delightedly said that they listened to her with full concentration. She was pleased to see their active participation and willingness. According to her, they seemed enthusiastic, hard working, and very talented. They also presented their ideas in an outstanding way when they visited her after her presentation. Students were highly concerned about future opportunities. When asked about the differences in terms of education system between Khwopa and DWIT, she did not find any difference. According to her, both are doing well in their own field can do better in the coming future. Besides academics, both colleges are also focusing on projects and other activities to improve the skills of the students. Besides working at Deerwalk Services, Karna also teaches the students of DWIT. Being a teacher, she wishes to see all the students being serious regarding their study. She appreciates hardwork .She believes hard work is the single and the only key to open the door of opportunities and success. When asked to give some advices to the DWIT students, she said “Do as much as you can, you are the only hope for your country.”
