DWIT Software club recently conducted a workshop on “Wordpress”. The workshop was conducted to help students learn basic knowledge of how it works. A total 22 students were selected for the workshop where they were expected to come to Deerwalk complex early morning at 8 AM. The event was 4-5 hour long with one break. Though the starting time of the event was sharp 8 A.M., installing XAMPP and Wordpress made it a little bit late than the actual time. The event started with a brief introduction of WordPress and how are “wordpress.com” and “wordpress.org” different from each other. And then, practicals on how to work on WordPress using Apache server was held. Every student had their own laptop so everyone was made to work on their laptop as the instructor taught. More the student tried on their very own laptop, more they seemed to learn. After that, there was a small break where the club provided students with breakfast which included few bakery items and a glass of soft drink for every person. Full stomach did a good job to make student focus on each and every detail explained there. Introduction, Posts, Pages, Plugins, and Themes on WordPress were some of the topics covered during the session. By the end of the workshop, everyone seemed to have a fair idea of what WordPress is, how to get a personal domain name and also how to host website.
