Premier League 2016/17 kicks off with a 2-1 defeat for the Champions
Leicester City have started their premier league title defense with a defeat. The Champions created some good chances in the first-half. After some quick passing in the left plank, Fuchs had the best chance to put Leicester City upfront, except for a good save by the Hull City keeper. The ball rebounded into the path of Jamie Vardy, Leicester City’s top scorer last year, in what looked like a goal with the post unprotected by the keeper, but the shot was blocked by Jake Livermore. Soon after the chance from Leicester City, Hull City created a string of corner opportunities and were finally rewarded with a goal, despite a superb save from Schmeichel. The ball fell to Adama Diomande, who scored the first goal of the Premier League 2016/17 in the first half stoppage time. Although Leicester City were given a lifeline with an early penalty in the second half, scored by Riyad Mahrez, PFA’s player of the year last season, they couldn’t capitalize on the equalizer to go for the win. Hull City looked more determined and gave it their all to go ahead again after a left-footed volley by Robert Snodgrass in the bottom right corner. Hull City who are managerless at the moment and relegation favorites gave some moments to cherish for their fans who are having a hard time protesting against the club owners. The Premier League has always been unpredictable, and the roller coaster ride has begun with a shock defeat for the Champions. Image: BBC Sports
