Participants Showcase Their Prototypes

By Kundan Shumsher Rana

On 21st November 2014, the students of DWIT showcased their prototypes of their products to all the students and administration along with Dr. Rudra Pandey. The students who showcased their ideas and prototypes were all participants of “Deerthon”, an annual Appathon. Deerthon is an annual event organized by the software club where students of DWIT can participate and test their product developing skills. This year’s event was held on 20th-21st September 2014. The event doesn’t only test the coding capabilities of participants, but it also tests if a student can imagine, design and sell a product. 7 teams are participating and competing to win the competition. The winner will get a special prize and the college will provide all the necessary tools and resources to build the product. The participants were given a theme on the day of the competition and were given 9 hours to build a prototype. This year’s theme was “E-Health”. After 2 months of planning, the participants presented their ideas and prototypes. The teams which presented their ideas were:

  • Alpha Dreamers (Pratik Budhthoki, Sunil Shrestha, Sachin Aryal, Bidish Acharya)
  • Innovate (Pratibh Acharya, Sameer Shrestha, Arun Amatya)
  • Infinite Loop (Sushant Gurung, Sumit Shrestha, Anish Thakuri, Sagar Giri)
  • SASS (Shankar Koirala, Abishek Gupta, Sanjeev Budha, Suman Thapa, )
  • Copy Paste Koders (Bhishan Bhandari, Subigya Kumar Nepal, Bipin Paudel)
  • Silver Turtle (Binod Aryal, Aswin Aryal)
  • Link Toothless (Ashmita Kunwar, Ruby Shrestha, Nikita Gautam)
Each team presented their ideas and their own approach. Three teams will proceed to the next round and one of those teams will be declared the winner. They will have a chance to develop their ideas even further. As a student of BScCSIT, this is great opportunity to learn more about developing, building and selling a product in the real world. This can be a great step for the participants.
