The Artistas conducted origami workshop in Deerwalk Sifal School (DSS) for the grade three students on April 27. The workshop was lead by Anushka Maharjan '18 and Sayal Vaidya '18. There was a total of 16 students and the teachers from the school assisted them to handle the students. The students were taught to make paper fish and dog. Origami is the Japanese word for paper folding. Origami encourages children to explore and practice the activity on their own. It's really magical to create the creature you want from the simple sheet of paper.

"The students were very welcoming and requested us to come in their art classes as well. They were catching up with me quite well which I really did not expect. They brought back memories from my craft classes where we would be filled with joy and excitement to learn new things. The workshop lasted for 45 minutes. The mentors got an overwhelming reaction from the students and the students had their innocent eyes full of excitement to learn more new things. From the completed product of origami, the children had a sense of instant gratification. Origami is the act of learning through doing so, this change brought by the club in the daily activity of the students might have helped the students to explore themselves to a great extent.
