Movies for Inspiration

By Bimal Gaire

Sometimes, even the small bits of life bring smile in our face. We cherish those special moments and preserve them in our heart. These happy and memorable moments are hidden inside a book, a place or in movies. Movies are not only motion pictures that run for almost two hours; these are the portrayal of life and civilization. Movies carry a greater meaning than just entertainment. These movies teach about the obstacles that hinder our journey and the necessary hardship that life demands. Here is the list of movies that inspire us to pursue our dream and take those steps which are considered to be beyond our reach: 1. The Shawshank Redemption(1994): 1 A strong 9.3 rating and the first place in IMDB top 250 speak all about this movie. Directed by Frank Darabont, it portrays the life of Andy Dufrense, who is imprisoned for the murder of his wife. This movie teaches us about hope and freedom. The tag line “Fear can hold you prisoner, hope can set you free” is a reality indeed. A man’s struggle for almost twenty years only to get his freedom is really something.     2. Into the Wild(2007): 2 Into the Wild is one of those movies that keep you thinking for a long time after you finish watching it. It is based on the real life events of Christopher McCandless, who abandons his possessions and hitchhikes to Alaska to fulfill his dream of living in the wild. It motivates us to live a life on our own with full of adventure and happiness. The hunt for natural beauty may bring sparkle in our eyes.         3. Dead Poets Society(1989): 3 This movie is full of inspiration. The relationship that grows between an English teacher and his students really keeps us awake all the time seeking some relishing moments. It teaches us to question ourselves and look deep under our soul to find the passion and joy of our life. We should listen to our heart and pursue those things that really drive us and provide happiness.     4. Requiem for a Dream (2000): 4It is a kind of movie that doesn’t directly motivate or energize you, but it shows the dark side of our life and the path we should never choose. Requiem for a Dream presents the story of three characters who are involved in drugs. The impact of drug-use is shown in such a manner that it breaks our heart apart. It is a really good movie that teaches you to remain far from drugs.       5. The Pursuit of Happyness(2006): 5 Happiness is the most important thing in the world. This Will Smith starrer shows the hardships of a man, who passes the huddles of life through his constant effort and hard work. His search of happiness makes you feel pity about the central character. Even though there may come many situations where you may fell like giving up, you should continue your fight and the destiny will be yours. These movies are truly great and really motivating. One thing is for sure, give them a try and you will ask questions to yourselves that can change the course of your life.
