The Magic of Books
“I believe in the magic of books. I believe that during certain periods in our lives we are drawn to particular books--whether it's strolling down the aisles of a bookshop with no idea whatsoever of what it is that we want to read and suddenly finding the most perfect, most wonderfully suitable book staring us right in the face. Unblinking. Or a chance meeting with a stranger or friend who recommends a book we would never ordinarily reach for. Books have the ability to find their own way into our lives.” ― Cecelia Ahern
Google defines “Book” as “bʊk, noun, a written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and bound in covers”. But a book is more than that. A book cannot be defined. A book cannot be given a tagline because the definition of book differs from one person to another. One may fine books “just” a set of papers bounded inside a cover, just a hobby, just a time pass, but for someone, book may define his/her life. The magic of a book is ineffable. It cannot be described or defined.
Reading a book is magical. When reading, you escape to the world of book, out from the harsh reality. Sometimes, you feel like you have no one by your side. You feel like the world would still be a happy place if you had never existed. Those are the times when you need a friend, a friend to take you away from the world, a friend with whom you don’t have to think about anything and be what you are, a friend with whom you can spend all of you time with. One may feel like there is no one as such in the world by their side, but there is different way of seeing things. Someone might consider friends only as a live human being smiling and talking with them. However, for someone that friend might be a character from their favorite book, with which he/she can share their views, their thoughts and they never have to be scared of being judged or of being dumped.
Many people think that reading book is boring, geeky, it’s bad for their so-called image. But the people who read books are the most sensible and beautiful people. Whenever you read a book, you can relate with it most of the times. You become so creative that you start to imagine an imaginary friend and you share each and every thing with them. You play with them, you talk to them, you sleep with them, and you know that they’ll never leave you when you wake up the next day. There are times when you’re reading a particular book and you can feel whatever’s going on in there, be it pain or happiness or sadness. You sometimes get so attached with a book that you never want to leave it. And what I think is that sometimes, a book can change your entire life and make you the person you never thought you would be.
Therefore, to see the magic, you have to believe in magic. Once you believe, everything will come together.
NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!!
