Madan Dai: Our Hero
Born in a remote village of Dhading district, 23 years old Madan Subedi has been working as everyone’s brother at DWIT since 2010 AD. Currently he lives with his wife in Bhatkeko Pul, Kathmandu. He feels amazed remembering the changes that have happened with his life in past years. During his childhood days, he and his family had to face a hard time. His father left his family, which really caused them both financial and emotional trouble. He even does not remember his father’s face. The worst thing of all was that, his little brother was only two days old when his father left them. From then on, his mother struggled alone and raised her four sons facing several difficulties in her life. At the age of three, he survived a near death experience because of an illness. At this point of time, he is very grateful to his mother for all the struggles she had done to bring them up. Deprived of a father’s love, support and poor financial condition, he couldn’t manage to accomplish his dream of becoming an engineer. From his early days, he had to work in the forest and spend his days as a cowboy. Instead of books and copies he had to choose kuto and kodalo. He struggled very hard and managed to study till grade nine only. Unfortunately, he could not continue his studies as it was difficult to work and study simultaneously. Fate can be very cruel to people and Madan Dai wasn’t spared. He wanted to become an engineer, but ended up leaving his home and family to earn his living. He came to Kathmandu four years ago. He stayed at a person’s house and helped him in his shop. In those days he struggled hard to earn as he poorly paid for his work. One of the biggest moment of his life was when he met the principal of DWIT , Surendra Adhikari. Impressed with his sincerity and hard work, Mr. Adhikari offered him a job at DWIT and started working here since. He works from 7.30 am to 7 pm and he manages all the resources of our college. He has been a very important part of our college. He solves issues of students as well as of the administration. He shares his happiness and satisfaction in the love, respect and support that he gets from the Deerwalk family. He believes that being the part of DWIT is one of the greatest achievement in his life. He now has a better life and is happy with his wife and family. He wants to provide a better life to his family and in the coming days he wishes to see his children doing well in their studies and being successful. He wants to give his children all the love in the world that he couldn’t get from his father. He plans to own a house in Kathmandu someday. People should never stop dreaming. Dreams give a meaning to life. It develops self-respect and motivation and never lets us give up. Our brother, Madan Subedi is one of those persons who have the guts to dream. He believes that life must keep on going no matter how tough the situation is.
