Know Your Neighborhood: Chabahil
One of the most developed localities in Kathmandu valley, Chabahil is a place of historical and commercial significance. It lies in the north-eastern corner of the valley. With the rise in population, Chabahil has become one of the most important and busy places at present.
Chabahil Stupa:
Heading towards Chabahil from Pashupatinath Temple, one can see the beautiful Charumati Vihar, built during the Lichhavi period. Considered as one of the oldest Buddhist stupas in the Kathmandu valley, it depicts the history of the Lichhavi dynasty. It is considered to be the fourth largest stupa in the valley. The stupa was constructed by Charumati, daughter of King Ashoka.
Unfortunately, in 2002, the tower in the stupa cracked due to vibrations from the passing traffic. It has been rebuilt many times since. It is one of the places of major attraction to the tourists especially Buddhist monks. Like the other stupas in the valley, it provides a peaceful atmosphere to relax. The gates of the stupa open at 5:00 am and close at 9:00pm
Chandra Binayak temple:
Another heritage site located in Chabahil is the Chandra Binayak Temple. Located on the western side, it is one of the major tourist attractions in the neighbourhood. It is the temple of Hindu god Ganesh and is also called “Ganesthan” by the locals. People from all over the valley come to this place on Tuesdays to worship Lord Ganesh.
Om hospital and research centre :
Om nursing home was first established as a nursing home in 1990 in Kamal Pokhari. After some years, it was shifted to Chabahil. It has turned out to be one of the leading hospitals in the country. It is also a research centre.

If you are looking for a place to spend with your family or a loved one, then H2O café is the place you would want to be. Situated opposite the Global IME in Chabahil, it has a comfortable environment. It offers quality food and services to its customers. It also offers a wide range of flavored hookah and beverages.
Getting there: Chabahil can be reached by direct bus or taxi. From Deerwalk, you can walk to Chabahil in about 15 minutes.
