Sushant Chitrakar, President of Sports Club
Sushant Chitrakar -  a sports enthusiast is the president of DWIT Sports Club. He really hopes that people will consider sports and athletics as a part of their lives and strive for healthy living. Moon Shrestha of DWIT News had a conversation with him. Let's get to know a little more about him. What are the three words your family or friends would use to describe you? Silent, Stubborn, Observant. What makes you happiest? Helping people, exploring new places, friends, music, and sports. What things do you not like to do? Small talk, Public Speaking (Getting hang of it), Illogical arguments. What was your upbringing like? It was great from what I can remember. Lovely parents and grandparents, older sister to argue with and look after me. Grew up around Newari culture and tradition. Good friends and memories along the way. Who is your personal hero? Why? I would not say personal hero but the person I admire the most is my dad. He is the most hard working and dedicated person I know. He faced many struggles in life but doesn’t forget to smile and crack some jokes once in a while. Also look up to individuals like Bear Grylls and the late Chester Bennington. What’s the one thing people always misunderstand about you? I always have been the silent kind but that doesn’t work well nowadays. Many may consider me awkward or dumb because I don’t talk too much unnecessarily. But, as they say, quiet people have the loudest mind. What’s your greatest failure and how did you overcome it? I have always been optimistic about life, so till now I haven’t stumbled upon anything that I considered a ‘great failure’. Still, I have a long way to go. Do you consider yourself extrovert or introvert? Well, according to science there is no such thing as a total extrovert or introvert. Everyone has both attributes. It is just about which one is more dominant. I have more introverted personality than extroversion. May be 70-30. Why did you choose your respective club? What motivates you to work hard for the club? I have always been fond of games and sports since my childhood. Having a stadium so close to my home may have something to do with it. In my freshman year, I had applied for a couple of clubs but luckily so I was selected for Sports Club. Since then, this club has been part of my undergrad phase. So, I think the love for the club and the passion for sports is my motivation. Club goals or club members? What comes first for you? For me, it is all about what we as members of a group or club can contribute to keeping its spirit alive naturally by achieving the goals. It is not about who comes first or second. What kind of legacy do you want to leave? By the end of my time, I hope people will consider sports and athletics as a part of their life, take care of their health and always strive to become healthy and best version of themselves. Legacy does not mean leaving something for people, it is leaving something in people.
