Akankshya Upadhyay, President of Deer Express Club
I very much enjoyed my time with this intelligent, gentle, and courteous young lady. Her attitude was genuinely winning and engaging. Let’s get to know a little more about her. What are the three words your family and friends would use to describe you? Well, I have a lot of names but I’m mostly called a foodie, talkative, and melodramatic. What makes you happy? FOOD! It’s definitely food! I am a great foodie and I’m always, “Food! Food! Food!” all the time. What things do you not like to do? There’s nothing specific I remember but I absolutely hate waking up early in the morning. What was your upbringing like? I wasn’t brought up as a pampered child but I always knew my family loved me very much. Love in the sense not to spoil me. And also, I had two mothers at home; my mother and my elder sister. My elder sister, who I consider as my second mother, is seven years older than me and she was always there for me when I had to share things I couldn’t share with my mother. So, I had two mothers at home and nothing can be greater than that. What’s the one thing people always misunderstand about you? I have a weak memory and I have trouble remembering people’s faces. I literally don’t remember people even if we’ve already been introduced. And when they give a smile or try to talk, although I have no idea who they are, I give an awkward and confusing smile. So, people always misunderstand me as a prideful person. What’s your greatest failure and how did you overcome it? I haven’t been in that stage of my life yet and if I will ever have to face failure I’m sure to overcome it by making the best decisions. Do you consider yourself an extrovert or an introvert? Extrovert with people I’m comfortable with because I’m very talkative as I’ve already said. But I’m not so good at breaking the ice and I often come off as an introvert with people I’m not comfortable with. So I’m in between. Why did you choose your respective club? What motivates you to work hard for this club? Public speaking is my interest and meeting new people is my hobby. For me, Deer Express was a club that matched my interest. It's a club that gives you exposure as it invites a lot of guests and increases your network. And also public speaking is very important and you need it in every phase of life. Also, News reading is my passion and this club gave me a platform to enhance it. Club goals or club members? What comes first for you? Club goals and club members are like the two sides of a coin for me. The club itself is a primary focus but a club isn’t complete without people working for it. So, I don’t know, club goals are very important and it is equally necessary to keep your members happy. So, I think its club members. What kind of legacy do you want to leave? Teamwork and compromise. It is important to learn to compromise after being a club member. We should consider and think about the ideas and thoughts of other club members as well. And without teamwork, a club cannot reach anywhere.
