The feeling of excitement had no boundaries when I heard about the compulsory hike to Nagarkot for Class of 2020 on Dec. 18. As it was a mandatory event, I knew everybody was going to be there, and since we hadn’t got a chance to interact with friends from another section, it was a great opportunity for bonding and knowing new people. Nagarkot itself is a beautiful and adventurous place, and I had never been there for hiking, so I knew it was going to be pretty fun and fabulous. The route for hiking was from Sankhu to Jarshinpauwa to Nagarkot.
The day finally arrived, and we were informed to reach DWIT premises at 7:30 a.m. sharp. Including all 48 students Class of 2020, and the president of hiking club Prayush Shrestha, senior students Abhisekh Khatiwada, Sachin Aryal and Sumit Shrestha and Campus Chief Surendra Adhikari we were a total of 53 people. We were divided into four groups, and a senior student led each team. It was 8 a.m. when we left college for Sankhu.
At 8:30 a.m. we reached Shalinadi river, Sankhu from where our hike officially started. We began moving uphill with our groups lead by our team leader. The adventure slowly commenced with various challenges - the scorching sun and challenging landform. On our way, we refilled ourselves with water and snacks to keep ourselves energetic. After walking for good two hours, we finally got to see the clear view of the beautiful mountains with a chill wind welcoming us, making us forget all our tiredness. We clicked many photos with friends and captured the beautiful scenes ahead us.
Then we stopped at Jarshinpauwa for lunch at around 1:30 p.m. We met all other groups there and again continued our hiking towards Nagarkot tower. It was already 4:30 p.m. when we reached there. The view from the tower was breathtaking and refreshing. Finally, it was time to leave the place, and college bus was already there to take us back. We danced and sang with all our hearts out in the bus and returned to college for delicious dinner at around 6:30 p.m, marking the end of our amazing hike with lots of beautiful memories.
