DWIT Clubs reorganized

By Ruby Shrestha

On Friday, 4th April 2014, the academic director of DWIT, Hitesh Karki, reshuffled the members of all the clubs. There were many factors which stimulated the reshuffling:  inadequate, dissatisfying and untimely outcomes of club activities, indifference of some club members towards their responsibilities, number of clubs a particular student is involved in and his/her contributions to the respective clubs, the academic performance of the club members and so forth. The reshuffling entirely changed the structure of some clubs, while some clubs did not alter much. The students were eager to know about the club(s) that they had been selected in and the position that they needed to be responsible for. The email of club reshuffling disheartened yet encouraged some students to work better since they had been either demoted or removed from their previous clubs. On contrary, some students were motivated to put up even more effort since they were promoted to a higher position in the club. The club reshuffling took place twice the same day. As per the prognostication of the academic director, there were some students who were not satisfied with the first club reorganization. So, after hearing their objections and concerns about the prior club reorganization, Hitesh Karki came up with a more refined list of club membership. According to him, the life of each reorganized club will be till the next batch enters DWIT and completes their 1st semester. He said, "I will continue to reinforce my stand that I want you to excel in everything that you do, but not at the cost of your academic performance. This is simply not done in DWIT. Academics will always come first, always!"  He added, "Each member will be closely examined and any hint of ignorance of responsibility will not be overlooked." Therefore, if the selected members of different clubs do not hold onto their obligations properly and maintain their academics at the same time, it is highly likely that their role in the club will terminate.
