Deerwalk Students and Employees Hike for Education

On 11th May 2014, 10 students from DWIT along with 3 employees from Deerwalk Services went on a HIFE (Hiking for Education). The hike was organized by Deerwalk Social Welfare Network in collaboration with the Social Service Club of DWIT. The main motive of the hike was to provide scholarship to students at Dilli Sabitri School, Dhading. The hikers were accompanied by Mr. Surendra Nath Adhikari, the Campus Chief of DWIT, Mr. Amrit Silwal of DWIT Administration and Mr. Madhav Pandey, who was the chief guest for the occasion. The program started with a speech by Mr. Surendra Nath Adhikari, who spoke about the importance of education. He said, “If you are willing to learn, then we will always be there to support you.” Five students from the school were selected and were given scholarships of Rs. 5000 based on their academic performance. Mr. Madav Pandey awarded the scholarships. At the end of the program, there was a good vibe among the parents of the students, who had received the scholarships. They were happy that their sons/daughters received scholarships for their brilliant academic performance. One of the parents said, “I work really hard to support my daughter in studies and now, she has made me proud. I will always give my full support to her.” Although no serious injuries were reported on the hike although students reported being tired walking along the challenging up-hill. Mr. Lava Prasad Kafle of Deerwalk Services suffered minor injuries after falling 5 feet down-hill.  Anish Thakuri  of DWIT was also reported to have been sick half way through the hike. Besides those, minor injuries like cuts, bruises and sore feet were reported.
