Deercoders Encouraging Students to Code

By Prabina Neupane

Deercoders Season II was conducted this Wednesday. It is a regular event organized by “The Software Club” with an aim to encourage the students to code. Through this event students can examine their problem solving abilities with the support of programming languages they know. This is a regular event conducted every alternate Wednesday. The inaugural season was completed before Dashain and the winner of the season was Sandesh Sharma of 2016, with an aggregate score of 32 out of 40.

This season there are eight participants, 2 from batch 2015, 5 from batch 2016 and one participant from batch 2018. This season has turned out as a kind of surprise for the organizers too, as most of the students of senior batches were showing hesitation to participate, a student who just started studying programming has shown interest and came forward. We truly appreciate his enthusiasm.

The program was completed in one of the classes, on Wednesday, from 5 PM to 6 PM. The topic of this session was Mathematics, thus all the participants solved a common question related to Mathematics. It was really good to see all the participants trying their best to solve the problem. Alok Koirala, Head of R&D department came to witness the session and was really glad to see the students working; he said “It is very pleasant to see student concentrate on one problem and attempt to solve it. This sort of event adds a lot to the thinking ability of the student.”

Overall, the event was a success. The results of the session will be published by the end of this week and before that four participants will present their codes in front of everyone on Friday. Our best wishes to all the participants.
