For the first time, Deer Express Club organized a club special Deertalk season. Like any other Deertalk seasons, this too comprises of four sessions. However, there is a total of 11 participants for each session who will be representing the 11 clubs in DWIT. The participants will be chosen by their respective club presidents and, unlike a normal season, the participant cannot be repeated in the other sessions. At the end of the season, the best performing club will be declared the winner. The first session of the special Deertalk season - the Topic session - kicked-off on Feb. 10. Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, the first session was ‘Valentine’ themed. All the club members were present in the Sagarmatha Hall to cheer for their respective representative participant. For this session, every participant had to speak for a couple of minutes on the respective ‘Valentine themed’ topic. The topics itself were quite exhilarating and amusing. The speech and messages that the speakers delivered were quite commendable which received lots of applauses, cheers, and even giggles in between from the audience. The topic session was won by Aakankshya Shrestha ’20 representing DWIT News."Since this season was a club special season it was really interesting and fun to attend especially with the all the roses being given even though it was much more nerve wrecking to speak in front of such a large mass."- Aakankshya ShresthaSince every club will send its best speaker, this competition would be a bit tougher than usual but on the brighter side, we will get to experience something different which would indeed be more fun and interesting to watch. Akankshya Upadhyaya ’18, president of Deer Express Club says, “The key idea is to have random participants throughout the season. It feels competitive as all the clubs will send its best candidates and challenge their assumptions about public speaking. So this Deertalk is more about involving many students, basically all clubs and all batches. Change is always good and the club special Deertalk is definitely saying YES to more fun!” DWIT News wishes all the best to all the participants.
