Book Review: The Last Song
The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks is an extraordinary novel which depicts a heartwarming love story. There are all kinds of love present in this world, right? Be it a lover’s love or family’s love or an enemy’s love. Love takes all forms and is of all kinds. The book recounts a remarkable journey of a 17 year old girl, who finds a new life in a new place, a new hope to move forward in her life and a new strength to face every obstacle, be it big or small. The story starts when Ronnie, a 17 year old girl is sent to live with her father in North Carolina along with her little brother, Jonah. Ronnie hates her dad and she is really pissed off at her mom for making her stay with him against her will. On the other hand, Steve, Ronnie’s father is waiting eagerly for his children who will spend the summer with him. A former professor and a pianist, Steve had an unsuccessful marriage so he had to leave his family and move to Northern Carolina. Because of this, Ronnie feels abandoned and hates her dad. And then there is Will, a guy who falls for Ronnie and a new relationship begins. The entire story revolves around Ronnie, but you will get to hear everyone’s side of the story. Sparks has wonderfully depicted the relationship between a rebellious teen with her parents, the complications one faces in a relationship and the feeling of losing someone you love more than yourself. There are complications in a person’s life but that’s how life is. There is happiness and pain. We have to face all kinds of hardships and sometimes we might even get a happy ending. This novel is different from Spark’s other novels. Every page of this book will make you yearn for more. Once you start, you won’t be able to put it down. It gives the reader a wholly different experience. The book is amazing and it will surely make you burst into tears, so be ready with a box of tissues with you. I showered this book with mine. Well, I would like to share every little detail, but why ruin the surprise. So, happy reading people! :D
