A Bold Step by Facebook - WhatsApp

By Ankit Pradhan

Facebook, it is the most popular social networking site that is being used by millions of people all over the globe. It was established by Mark Zuckerberg to communicate with his friends in his College but now it has been a medium of communication for all the peoples in the world. It is said that if Facebook was a country than it would have had the largest population. Facebook has taken another big step in the field of social networking. On Feb 19, 2014 Facebook announced that it has successfully bought whatsApp in $19 billion. WhatsApp have been made by Jan Koum, a Ukranian Citizen. In Feb. 24, 2009, he incorporated WhatsApp Inc., California. WhatsApp has very low costs, so it should eventually be wildly profitable. WhatsApp currently has only 55 employees. Assuming an all-in cost of $200,000 per employee, that's a total cost base of $11 million. graph Five years of its foundation, WhatsApp is a simple, fast and reliable mobile messaging service that is used by over 450 million people on every major mobile platform. WhatsApp is the leader among a wave of Smartphone-based messaging apps that are now sweeping across North America, Asia, Europe, and is known to appeal to teens and others who avoid mainstream social networks. More than 1 million people sign up for WhatsApp every day and it is on its way to connecting one billion people. More and more people rely on WhatsApp to communicate with all of their contacts every day. Due to its growing popularity, WhatsApp have been merged with Facebook. But it will continue to operate independently within Facebook. It has also added feature of locating the exact location of the user. From this we can get the location of where the person is chatting or texting from. Wrapping this up, I really do believe that WhatsApp is going to be a big hit after being grasped in the hand of Facebook. On the other hand, Facebook has made its future safe because the speed WhatsApp is taking market of social networking, in coming years, it would dominate the Facebook messenger. One way or another, Facebook was itself great and the addition of WhatsApp will make the sparkle even stronger.
