Approaching Magh 8

By Dipesh Poudel

Will politicians of major parties will be able to come to a mutual agreement and bring the new constitution as promised to Nepali citizens? All these questions will be answered on Magh 8. Everyone is waiting for new constitution on Magh 8 that will change the face of the country. Many things were promised to Nepali citizens during the constitutional assembly election by the political parties. Politicians of major parties are yet to come upon an agreement which clearly shows that it is impossible to come with new constitution within this short period of time. Even the high ranking politicians of major political parties are showing their doubt about the release of new constitution in pre-determined time. Since none of the political parties won two thirds of 601 seats in CA (constituent assembly) elections, the constitution should be made under the agreement of all the political parties. This is quite impossible because the political parties cannot back down from the fundamental things that they said to people to win the elections. The major issue that is not being resolved is the issue of Federal system and governing structure. If these issues are solved then there is a tiniest possibility that the first draft of constitution will be released on the pre-determined date. Let’s hope that Nepali people will also get to read a new constitution in this month of Magh along with Shree Swasthani Brata Katha that they have been reading for decades.
