By Saras Karanjit

How often do you use YouTube in a day? Once? Twice? Or a few times at least. It’s amazing to see how a small platform for video sharing has grown up to be something this huge. The history of YouTube dates back to February 14, 2005 and was opened for uploads on April 23 the same year. Since then people have uploaded hundreds of thousands of videos and the database is just getting vast every second. Stats say that at the beginning of this year, there have been more than a billion videos uploaded on YouTube. These are astonishing figures. But have you ever wondered how it all started? Who uploaded the very first video on YouTube? What was it about? Well we’ve covered all of those here. The first ever person to upload a video on YouTube was Jawed Karim, one of the co-founders of YouTube. He uploaded the video named ‘Me At The Zoo’ on 23rd April, 2005.
