Rio 2016- 10 Football Stars to Watch at the Olympics in Brazil

10) Ali Adnan (Udinese)

The first Iraqi to play in Series A, Adnan has earned comparisons to both Roberto Carlos and Gareth Bale. He’s a talented left-side star and scored against Genoa back in February.

9) Nikalas Sule (Hoffenhelm)

A talented 20-year-old centre-back, Sule’s career progress was seriously threatened in December 2014 when he damaged his anterior cruciate ligament. He’s returned with self-confidence though and made 33 starts last term and impressing onlookers.

8) Max Meyer (Schalke)

An attacking midfielder straight off the Schalke production line, Meyer is trying his best to get back into the senior Germany side after his one and only cap back in 2014. He’ll be looking to showcase his talent and earn a gold medal in Brazil.

7) Gabriel Jesus (Palmeiras)

After finding form in Brazil and being hailed by legendary striker Ronaldo, the forward will be hoping to be a hit in his homeland at the Olympics. Quick and with a good work ethic, its understandable Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in signing him.

6) Jullan Brandt(Bayer Leverkusen)

Bremen-born Brandt just missed out on Germany’s Euro 2016 squad, so now will look to show Joachim Low what he missed over in Brazil. The wing wonder became the youngest player since Gerd Muller to score in six consecutive games back in April and shows real promise.

5) Davie Selko

Selke shocked German football last summer when he swapped Werder Bremen for RB Leipzig, who were in 2. Bundesliga. He’s helped them earn promotion to the top-flight and now, the youngster, who was heavily criticized for the transfer, can warm German hearts with good displays in Brazil.

4) Hirving Lozano (Pachuca)

Hot prospect Lozano is a highly-rated 20-year-old and has already seen himself linked with a move to Manchester United. Nicknamed Chucky, he grabbed a goal and two assists in Pachuca’s 5-1 win over Leon on Sunday, July 17.

3) Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain)

Still, in and out of the first team in the French capital, this could be where the defender finally emerges as an elite player. Barcelona is linked with a move for him this summer and some good showings could edge a deal closer.

2)  Gabriel Barbosa(Santos)

He’s already scored twice in four appearances for the national team and continues to be rumored with a transfer to Europe.
